Took the boys to the park today. Here's Miles, just before he took off running.

Here we go again... In 2010, I took a picture of the boys every day. In 2011, I am not going to restrict myself as much. I want to try to learn more about different types of photography, and I want to be able to document other parts of our lives. That said...today's picture is of my sparkly sweater I wore for New Year's Eve last night. The first New Year's Eve George and I have celebrated since 2005. Hooray!

My sweet Linus. At least he wasn't being too hammy this time, but that boy is always willing to smile for the camera.

I call this one "me being artsy fartsy with the tree that fell down in the neighboring yard." Or is that too long for a title?

    37 months old! Miles...Oliver...Linus

It's kinda a picture of the boys... I got this wall decal from Etsy, but for various reasons, it won't look right on the wall, so I stuck it to the plexiglass in this poster frame instead. I love it, it came from the seller Graphic Spaces.

We have been invited to a party on Saturday and the invitation specifies pink attire. Since it's not exactly easy to find pink t-shirts in the boys' section, I got them some pink socks to wear. And of course they wanted to put them on immediately. Pink is their favorite color, after all. And why not? They don't know that it's meant to be girly.

We went to Millie's third birthday party today. Or friend's daughter Mae has an aversion to the Happy Birthday song. I love the drama that being six years old can bring.

Linus and Miles were trying to push the tree down. Yeah, they were each pushing towards each other. Just as well for the poor tree, I suppose.

One reason I'm not focusing on the boys for this 365 project is so I can share more of the other parts of my life. Like these two ladies. Between the three of us, we have ten kids that were born in the same 48 hour period. (Triplets, triplets, quads.) We try to get together every month or so for dinner and (less and less frequently) to talk about our kids. Tonight we gathered at Stephanie's house for wine, paninis, and a roaring fire. Pardon the somewhat surprised/unnatural looks we have here, I blame that on the self-timer. Heh.

I had lunch at Commander's Palace on Friday with some friends. One of whom I guess didn't want to be in this picture.

My birthday dinner, since our plans didn't exactly work out as I'd hoped. But still, who can complain when there is Butternut Squash and Crab Bisque, bread, cheese, and creme brulee? And a tiny bottle of Prosecco that I forgot to take out for the picture?

Washing that gray right outta my hair...

I took the boys to play at a friend's house today. Linus looks like he's giving the evil eye to her little boy, but they actually got along pretty well. Oh, and that pajama top? He's been wearing that pretty much non-stop for the past four days. (It has been washed.)

A toast! To my friend Ren's Fancy Dinner Party. We made up fake names for everyone and spoke in fake British accents. I was Prudence Walberswick, dahling.

Fair's fair, I guess. But I'm not posting the picture he took of me.

You can tell by the manic look in his eyes that MILES LOVES PRESENTS! (He gets that from me.)

  • 01/18/11

    01/18/11

Two goofballs (Miles and Oliver - Linus already got out at this point) in the bath!

  • 01/19/11

    01/19/11

My mom and Larry came over tonight to have dinner and help with bedtime. Linus really enjoyed playing with Grandee!

Took the boys to the zoo yesterday with some friends. The carousel has finally reopened, so we avoided another scene like this.

  • 01/23/11

    01/23/11

While the boys were at Granny & Grandpas, my friend Tee and I painted their playroom dark blue. In a few weeks, it will become their bedroom, complete with toddler beds. Gulp!

    01/21/11

Here is Oliver in green, counting for Linus. I know it's hard to hear, but really, I just wanted to capture some everyday interactions between them. Mensa needs to watch out - Oliver can count all the way up to eleventeen!

  • 01/24/11

    01/24/11

Yeah, so guess what we're trying again?

Now this is a happy sight for any mom of picky kids...someone eating their freaking dinner for once. Well, all except the vegetables, of course. Heaven forbid they eat a vegetable.

The boys love feeding the ducks by my mom's house. I wish I'd had a video camera with me, because they were being so funny. "COME HERE DUCKY! HERE'S SOME FOOD! EAT IT, DUCKY!" and so on.

  • 01/27/11

    01/27/11

We had fun playing outside yesterday before it got dark. Well, until someone peed on themself. Ahh, potty training is fun!

    01/28/11

I forgot one of the boys' portable beds at home, so we blew up a queen sized air mattress for them to sleep on at my mom's house. After they fell asleep, I went to check on them and Oliver was practically on top of Linus. I can't wait to see how they sleep when they're in their toddler beds. Part of me hopes they end up snuggling like this. So sweet!

It was super foggy this morning (aside: we told the boys it was "froggy" outside, and they said they didn't like the frogs, and they weren't going to go outside. heh.) and this spiderweb on the fence looked too cool to pass up. Plus, you really don't want to see pictures of what's going on in our lives right now. It's all potty, all the time.

  • 01/30/11

    01/30/11

I took this picture of Oliver and Linus running with the cameras they got for Christmas. Neat!

  • 01/13/11

    01/13/11

    It's friggin' cold here.

  • 01/26/11

    01/26/11

Aw, look. I got..."the lip". (And yeah, I got all artsy-fartsy on it.)

  • 02/03/11

    02/03/11

This kid likes to pull "the lip" a lot, doesn't he? Eh, they all do. And this was AFTER I said we could go race cars on the sidewalk. He had already gotten his wish, and the lip was still there. Yeesh.

I was discussing pizza stones with friends today and therefore could not have anything for dinner except homemade pizza. Seriously, the crust is so easy to make and so much better than anything storebought. I also carmelized some onions, and sauteed mushrooms and spinach for my side. (George had pepperoni.)

Miles got some fruit snacks this morning, and boy was he proud of himself. (He earned them by, well, using the potty in a #2 kind of manner.) Speaking of Miles, the child can go from joyous to suspicious in two seconds flat.

38 months old! Instead of using one of their posed, fake-smile pictures, here's what they were doing after the "shoot" was done. Talking about cars and airplanes and trucks. Boys!

  • 02/05/11

    02/05/11

Nah, the boys are going in toddler beds just yet. I put one together today and wanted to see how it looked with a mattress and blanket on it. Eep, so cute!

Love these baby tootsies. Even though they're not baby-sized anymore. They're still sweet baby tootsies. I wonder if my mom still feels that way about my feet? Hmm. I doubt it.

The view from the hospital bed as I waited to get the epidural steroid injection for my herniated disk. It felt weird to be sitting in a hospital bed again. Last time I did that was when I had the boys.

    Sweet Oliver.

The injury that resulted in a five hour visit to the Emergency Room last night. Ugh. For a little bit of superglue. Yeesh. Next time, I'll do it myself.

George and Oliver were having a sweet moment. Even sweeter because his brothers were running around like maniacs, whining and crying. Sigh.

    02/10/11

I love the giggling faces here. And how their legs are both lifted up like that. Weird. Oh, and two seconds later, when we turned off the television, they were definitely less than thrilled.

We went across Lake Ponchartrain for a birthday party today. The sky was so clear and the water so blue (or vice-versa, I suppose) that I had to take a picture. What a beautiful day! This photo is totally untouched, except for some cropping.

Playing in the tub. They were really tired, but I was trying to delay bedtime. I know, it sounds absurd. They were begging to go to bed, but I didn't want them to go to sleep just yet. Turns out they woke up at 3:45 this morning at Granny & Grandpa's. No wonder they're so tired! Vote for my blog!

On the bright side, we'll be able to tell Miles apart from his brothers for a long time.

Do you sense a theme here? Oliver, with that lip again.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

The boys are pretty good about washing their hands. (Linus is washing his here.) I have to keep an assortment of fancy hand soaps at the sink, though. Spoiled children!
